Triticale is a cross between wheat and rye – resulting in a very palatable forage option for livestock. Fridge winter triticale has excellent winter survival and great early growth, which means it gives excellent ground cover and weed suppression. The heads are awnletted, not bearded, adding to the palatability. The deep roots on Fridge will scavenge nitrogen from your soil. This variety can handle heavy grazing pressure, so use it in your pastures for grazing, or you can make hay or haylage out of it.

Planting
- Planting Time: Mid-late Fall
- Seeding Rate: 80-100 lbs/acre
- Drilled Seeding Depth: 1” – 1.5”
- Winter triticale should be planted in the fall when conditions will allow it to germinate before entering a dormant winter period in which it will vernalize.

- Apply 1/3 rate of nitrogen at planting, and the other 2/3 rate during green-up in the spring.
- Do not exceed a total of 25 lbs/a of N+K if fertilizer is placed in-furrow.
